InVision Memories and Void Elements
Hey Folks,
Here we are in a new year. We ate far too much food over the holidays (per usual) and all got sick (per usual). Thankfully we're all better now and our immune systems are a little stronger? Hopefully? Hope you all had a restful holidays!
Thinking Too Hard
Last week InVision shut down it's collaboration services. While it's probably time (I haven't used InVision in a looooong time), there was a pang of nostalgia with the announcement. There was a time where InVision prototypes were THE THING. Sharing web designs with clients in the early 2010's was sometimes difficult. I had several conversations where a client would open a PDF at full zoom and be like:
InVision prototypes solved that problem by forcing the client to view things at the correct sizes in the correct context. There was also a brief period where the Sketch automated-upload-to-InVision workflow made design sharing nearly seamless... But then it felt like nothing changed for awhile, and when Figma came out we all left and never looked back...
🪦 RIP InVision, I will remember you fondly.
