Building Motion and JAMStack Zombies
Hey folks, glad you decided to stick around! Summer has been blazing by... soon it'll be Christmas and we're wondering how we got there...
Words I Wrote:
Why does it feel like most motion and interaction design content are either centered around mobile apps or just imaginary designer-land pixie-dust? I dive into a new series with my peers at Viget around how to build a better process around motion.
Thinking Too Hard:
So JAMStack is dead? Because Netlify shut down a Discord server? Seems a little premature to declare an entire approach 'dead'... That said, Dan Abramov is also leaving Meta, so it'll be interesting to see what's coming for React. Things may be changing, but they're not DEAD... (not yet, anyways).
Note to self: I need to learn View Transitions. I keep thinking these features are far off only to learn that, hey, it's live in Chrome RIGHT NOW. Both that and Scroll Driven Animations are pretty neat. I'm still exploring the mental space of where these deviate from past solutions and where they'd be a better insertion in the future.
Interesting Web Bits:
(In no particular order)
- OSX now allows adding webpages to the dock
- A new font foundry some interesting open-source fonts
- I learned the Konami Code was originally from Gradius, not Contra 🚀
- A very handy gradient generator or another one if that's not enough...
- A fascinating dive into the small vehicles of Tokyo
- Guidelines for code reviews, for both the reviewer and the reviewee
- A wild article that someone let Github Co-Pilot co-write, strap in for a journey...
- A rather accurate, mildly anxiety-inducing account of a day in the life of a manager
