Between-Spaces and Strange Tunnels
Hey friends,
It was a different type of week last week as the PL/UI team (Platform/User Interface) at Viget got together for an offsite location for several days.
Just a small list of things that occurred:
- Power outage while in an underground tunnel between two buildings. (This tunnel was seriously strange/cool/weird, y'all...) ๐
 - Discussing CMS best practices and how best we can work with Craft and WordPress. ๐ฎ
 - Learning pickleball for the first time. ๐
 - Coffee science! โ
 - Getting shot by the sheriff (don't worry, it was a boardgame)... ๐ซ
 - Migrating from Docker Desktop to Orbstack. ๐ณ
 - Inciting people to overthrow imperialist colonizers (also a boardgame)... โ
 - Listening to 11 other very smart people talk shop. ๐ง
 - Discovery of a room/building that was nothing but closets. โ๏ธ
 - Planning future research initiatives. ๐งโ๐ฌ
 - Playing development-themed Family Feud. ๐
 - Celebrating a teammate's birthday! ๐

But most of all, as a remote worker it was really nice to see folks face-to-face.
It's hard to maintain energy as a team remotely. As convenient as remote meetings are, they significantly lower the chance for SOMETHING WEIRD to happen โ the types of things that form bonds and inside jokes. Those tend to only happen in the 'between-spaces' of social interactions. I'm thankful we got the space to have some of that 'in-between' time, and I'm thankful to be part of this team at Viget!
