AI Feels and Time Smearing
Hey friends,
It's cold here 🥶. I maintain that anything below 20°F starts to physically hurt.
Thinking Too Hard 🤔
I sat down to write about my current feelings around AI and there wound up being more to unpick there than I realized...
I appreciate the digital minimalist approach to tooling, where you carefully curate by REAL value added, and it seems that value in AI-tooling has been proved in several arenas... enough to try for myself.
I still remain mixed on the overall impact of AI across our digital culture but I see the power that comes from these models. So I'm creating boundaries for myself—a set of personal guidelines around AI usage—in a targeted test to see if it does truly bring value.
I'll be sharing those later this week...
Interesting Web Bits 🍿
- Not normally on my radar, but Jacob Bartlett wrote a piece on how Apple is killing Swift.
- For those moments when you wanted to be attacked by a random monster when you change directories in your CLI.
- In the same theme of digital minimalism, Ham Vocke encourages us all to take the under-engineering challenge and use ONLY what's strictly necessary.
- Time is such a wacky thing, I enjoyed Julia Evan's story of how she 'timed smeared' her employers infrastructure to deal with the leap second.
