If there’s no takeaway message, it was just a long conversation, not a talk- Dr. James Geller #012
What did I do last week ?
I was mainly preparing for my talk at George Washington’s University. One of the major thing I got to learn was whenever you are giving a talk/seminar make sure to rehearse it at least five times. I am lucky to have two amazing people who help me rehearse whenever I have to present a paper or my research work at a conference.
Another important thing I learnt was, make sure that you have some humor included in your talk or maybe something which you are passionate about. That makes the talk human and not like a robot just uttering some memorized words.
A bit about research
Well as the title says, my advisor said that to me a few days before my talk at George Washington’s University’s Biomedical Informatics Center . I had the opportunity to talk about my research - Concept Utility Framework. Most people today don’t have an attention span that lasts more than 30 minutes, and if you are listening to a talk for 60 minutes you are bound to forget things. In the end, a key take away message is what matters (taught by my advisor). Hence, I would suggest everyone to have a slide that sums up the entire talk in 3-5 bullet points.
Interesting things this week
I came across this tweet by the COO of GitHub and the statistic is pretty wild. Because of GenAI being so good at what it does, people are able to ship code and applications faster than ever.
