We're Not Gonna Protest!
July the Fourth be with you!
One of the key OG themes of this blog, even before we became famous, is that napping does not equate to laziness. We have made this case and we encourage our newer readers (welcome!) to continue to read our thoughts, and consider their own on this topic. Accepting this premise is a primary marker between those who allow themselves to embrace the glory — and the productivity — of the nap, and those who feel embarrassed or quizzical about taking time out of the day to reset and refresh.
But the truth remains that even if it is laziness — and we can most certainly be accused of being lazy — there’s nothing wrong with that either. To each their own, as they say. If being lazy is where you are at, we serve the purpose of helping you consider how best to execute your nap. If you want to increase your productivity…we serve the purpose of helping you consider how best to execute your nap. In that way, we are all in this together.

As we celebrate Independence Day, we recall that our forefathers and more recently, our grandfathers and fathers, our sons and daughters and many of you — fought for these rights.1 The right to do big things…but also little things.2 Taking a nap in the middle of the day is not a universal guaranteed right, and surely does not exist in many countries. From the “big” rights to the “little” ones,3 today we celebrate our freedoms.4 Happy Napping!
We appreciate you.
I am reminded of the quote by Droz in PCU — boy does that movie still hold up — that what we are doing here is “about democracy. It’s about the Bill of Rights, basic call-waiting, free trips to the salad bar. It's about everything that makes this country great.” [Ed. note: RIP Jessica Walter, better known to many as Lucille Bluth]
Drinking some beers or throwing some meat, ibid.
We appreciate everyone who celebrates their freedoms, thereby validating the effort of those who fought to protect them.
