To Everything There is a Season 2
No alarms and no surprises
Get excited, everybody — in two short days, we’re going to break new ground here at TND. I couldn’t be much more excited for this Friday’s post and what it represents — looking forward to seeing you then!
Until then, join us today as Hen continues his victory lap/flex — I celebrate his good fortune in the world of napping and am inspired to do better myself!
Monday: Bed Nap / Early Afternoon
Pretty typical Monday nap. 5:10 wake up, 5:40 departure for the gym, 7:30 food shopping, work until 2, and then geared up for the kids to arrive home from school with a solid 30.
Chose the bed because I wanted to be sure that I got the 30. It wasn’t a need nap, per se, but I wanted to make sure to get a boost, and didn’t want to take a chance on a low quality execution on a couch. Since that’s the darkest, coolest room I have, it was the most conducive to losing consh. And since I wasn’t at risk of going deeper than 30, every minute counted to getting right to sleep.
Tuesday: Bed Nap / Flex. Bed Nap / Late afternoon
That’s right. Double naps. But alas, not out of want or purely “flex”ing. The first nap was the “kid was up all night coughing so I was up all night tending to his cough” nap. That’s the one where you grind it out all night, get things settled in the light of day, and then make sure that you get yourself right. A need nap, for sure.
The second nap was a little bit more of a want. But once I got HEF back from the doctor, he wanted to nap, so I decided to nap as well. We enjoyed a later afternoon session. Mine was 30 minutes — I am a disciplined man. His was two hours. He’ll learn.
