TND Scoops the Internet! 2
Let's have a smile for a GQ staff writer
To pick up from where we left off, Mr. Roberson and GQ editors, your baseball nap article resonated strongly with me, which is a bit ironic because I’m not really a sports fan.1 As you may know, I really enjoyed Howard Beck’s NBA napping article and told him as much. I found it extremely interesting, and it sparked joy in me to learn (in GQ no less!) how naps are as important to NBA players as they are to me, my friends, and so many others. But beyond that spark of joy, I didn’t have an emotional reaction, which may not be surprising from the perspective non-sports fan without any relationship to the subjects of the piece. But your article, Mr. Roberson…I felt it.2
As you may know, we believe in what we call “napping cheat codes”3 to support achievement of napping goals, and many cheat codes are auditory in nature.4 So while I’m not a fan of baseball, I am a fan of listening to background sounds/music as I ease into a nap! In that sense, I found your article very relatable — I even appreciated the comparison to napping to golf, as I know everyone has their own preferences when it comes to napping cheat codes.5
However, I have to let you know that TND got to this topic first and noted a significant change in baseball napping that we didn’t see in your article — the pitch clock.
So what happens now? Well, I have more thoughts…
I’ve mentioned this so many times that I try not to restate it in every article, but I’ll share it here in the event you’re not as conversant in the TND catalogue as I and our regular readers are — with that, if you like what you see, we invite and heartily welcome you to become valued regular readers!
I may as well note here that there are scenarios where it would spark joy in me to see a mainstream publication cover a napping-related subject or three. To that end, I have some freelance pitches out there, including a few to GQ, to see if there is an opportunity for me to help manifest that reality — stay tuned for updates there…!

I also really appreciated the love and respect you used in your nap coverage — I have a feeling I’ll profile you at some point as I did after reading some asides in his wonderful article about Jacoby Brissett’s napping habits!
