Preferred Posture 3
Would you, could you, on a couch?
Here at TND, we talk a lot about napping. I mean, it’s basically all we talk about — well, that and things adjacent to napping. It’s why we’re here — you could say it’s our raison d’etre, if you want to sound hoity toity, as I frequently do (pretty sure I’m on point here grammatically, come at me bro).
During our meanderings, we sometimes touch on the physicality of how we nap. Sometimes it’s sitting up. Sometimes it’s on a Moon Pod. Sometimes it’s on a plane (sometimes reclining, sometimes not). Other times, it’s horizontal on a couch — and that’s what we’re here to discuss today.
We have soft leather couches in the family room, and I’ve taken to lying on them when we watch TV at night (increasingly rare), when I play video games (not uncommon as I continue to navigate the liminal space of funemployment), or when my girls are watching TV during the day (more frequent than is probably good for them, but hey, we’re all doing our best over here). If you’ve been following along, you’ll know that I employ an expertly-designed, if complex, pillow regime: two under my knees, one behind my head, one to hold.
This is where I like to nap during the day, particularly if I’m going timed, rather than untimed. It’s comfy but not too comfy, dim but not too dim. The fan moves the air around, so the room is never too hot or too cold.
Who among us doesn’t love a good couch nap?
