Preferred Posture 2 / Nap Aids (a.k.a. Sleeping PEDs) 2
Hello, Moon Pod
I turned 43 yesterday, and as much as my wife is ambivalent (at best) about my passion for napping, she got me a gift that might just revolutionize my napping game. And that gift is the Moon Pod.
The Moon Pod (no affiliation with TND) is described as a zero-gravity bean bag designed to mimic the sensations of sensory deprivation (flotation therapy), which has been shown to help reduce stress and anxiety. It’s a large, amorphous blob (not unlike a gelatinous cube) filled with proprietary high density beads that they say reduce sagging, even over time. Depending on where/how you put yourself on it, you’re able to sit, recline, and lie down.
OK, so how is it to nap on?
In a word: freaking awesome. I didn’t sleep great last night and had room in my schedule for a flex, so I took it. I lay down on the Moon Pod, settled in, grabbed a foot rest, put on my go-to nap music, and set the alarm for 45. And what a 45 I had. My day has a new trajectory now, and my working hypothesis is that Moon Pod deserves some of the credit.
Will have to continue to experiment, but based on my limited experience, the Moon Pod is awesome. Apparently it’s quite expensive as well — the kind of thing I wouldn’t buy myself but am happy to have received as a gift (thanks, babe!).
