Like a boss
There’s no comparing the special events in your kids’ lives. Each child is different, each event is different. My oldest son’s Bar Mitzvah was a huge moment in my life, and I was happy to share it with immediate family, even under difficult circumstances of abiding by COVID rules. But the reality is that we could not have everyone join us despite their deep desire to celebrate.
This weekend, we got a reminder of what it feels like to be surrounded by those people, and the extra level of happiness that can be reached when people who genuinely care show up for you. Expressing all my appreciation to friends and family and also from our immeasurable TND fandom is an exercise that would wear out my keyboard and go well beyond my allotted 250 words. Put simply: “And for that,” as Professor Petrovsky said in Rounders, “I owe.”
As for the nap, well, of course I napped! Naps come in different forms, and this was in the category of a quick re-set to digest the adrenaline from the day and prepare for another round of family time. I hauled in my middle to make it a teachable moment now that he’s an official Man. We lay down, and I set the timer and added one piece of advice. “This will be a short one, son, so clearing the mind quickly is essential.”
The timer went off 15 minutes later. We locked eyes. His first 15…
