Nap Aids (a.k.a. Sleeping PEDs) 4
Did you hear about the corduroy pillows? They’re making headlines!
Good news, everybody! After getting to bed on the early side last night with the aid of the BBC Shipping Forecast, I managed to shake off whatever was vexing me yesterday, and I’m back to being a happy little cloud. Given how this sleep aid helped me get to the right place, I wanted to cover another topic we here at TND discuss from time to time: pillows.

There are many aspects to pillows and their use that I wanted to highlight here.
Composition
In Japan, they use sobakawa, buckwheat pillows filled with the hard outer casings of buckwheat seeds. This is in stark contrast to what we typically stuff into our pillows in the good ol’ US of A: down (or fake down) or memory foam (sometimes shredded, sometimes not).
Density
Do you like thicker pillows or thinner ones? Firm or soft? A combination of all of the above? Lots of permutations there.
Intended use
There also are various approaches to what kinds of pillows you put where: neck pillows, knee pillows, couch pillows, body pillows (including maternity pillows, which my wife never really got to use when pregnant because I’d always steal it in the middle of the night…love you, babe), and plain old generic pillows.
Actual use
Once you’ve chosen your pillows, where do you actually put them? Behind your head? Under your knees? Between your knees? Lots of options.
My approach
Not enough words left here to cover my preferred usage — more to come on that!
