Music Festival Naps
That country music really drove me crazy
Like Matt’s recent journey to Colorado, I was also recently at the inaugural BeachIt Country Music festival in Virginia Beach, VA. Three days of country music, outside, literally on a beach, in the sun (and rain and wind). I had a series of excellent naps.
The early-morning flight nap
If you are going to be on the 6am flight, the only way to motivate is the knowledge that you are passing right back out once you board.
Bonus points for a flex.
Key Consideration
Wait till take off or try to immediately eye-shade, ear-plug and sleep while boarding is still commencing?
Pre-show Nap Day 1
On Day 1, our first show was the indomitable Kip Moore, who also happened to be our #1 must-see. Playing at 5pm, this left time for a traditional afternoon nap.
Bonus points for nap #2 of the day.
Key Consideration
Shades totally drawn, risking a deeper sleep; or some light peeking in, risking an inability to sleep given overall excitement?
Pre-Show Naps Day 2 & 3
With the first band on at 2:15, this left little to no time for a typical early afternoon nap. That meant the nap had to be taken pre-lunch.
Bonus points for a flex.
Key consideration
Wake up earlier so you space the end of night sleep with the beginning of a nap? Or sleep later and possibly forgo that extra pre-show shut-eye?
In the end, we saw 12 bands and napped 4 times in three days. Win!
