Addressing a market need
You know what the world needs? “Another article about 5 steps to take before you retire,” said nobody, ever. Yet with countless blogs dedicated to the same topics, there was nowhere to read about napping and nap-adjacent1 topics. I found this out because I looked.
Matt, Evan and I had started to share our fondness for napping in the main Signal chat group, before we were shushed by those Jimmy Buffett loving freaks.2 We decided to take our entertaining and valuable content right on down the road3 and quickly found we had so much to share in terms of nap quantity, quality and preparation. Surely, someone else was dedicated to this craft and we could learn from them. Not so.
While our search yielded plenty of information,4 no one has the dedicated focus on this ancient and modern craft. Then one day Matt showed up with a surprise: a domain name on something called Substack.5 Well, you had me at “To Nap,” and you can throw in “Divine” for free.
The fact that so many people want to read about napping doesn’t surprise me. We’ve known there was an audience because we were in the audience. The fact that people keep showing up to read it is what is so stunning. I’ve learned a lot from doing this, but the most important thing remains: you are not alone in your passions. And there’s strength in numbers. We are thrilled to deliver our message and help people achieve their maximum productivity.6
I shaved a word from my word count by throwing in the dash. Matt makes up rules all the time so I am going with it. [Ed. All true statements.]
Just kidding I love you fellas. Also, who wants to write a FGF post? Asking for a friend.
Just a separate chat group within the broader group. There are a lot. Too many. Like there’s even a bird watching group but no one actually knows what they talk about in there. I’m 86% sure it’s not a cover for discussing other topics.
Some of which has been used to inspire our own blog posts.
I figured it was the dark web, whatever that thing is, also how do you get there? But I digress.
