Milestones 1
Time flies!
Hard to believe, but TND has been at it for just over six months! This is the first of three posts this week celebrating this milestone: I’m taking today, and Hen and Evan will cover Wednesday and Thursday after a masterful July 4th post Hen has prepared for you tomorrow.
Nine contributors and counting: three primary, six honored guests.1 155 posts. 184 days.2 Thousands of page views. Millions of hours of planning in the TAENR. A lot of action and countless people to thank.
To our readers
First and foremost, thanks for reading! We wouldn’t have made it this far without you and your generosity with your time, and you inspire us to do all we can to make reading TND a worthwhile use of it!
To my brothers from another mothers
and , I could not do this without you (and am not sure I would want to).
To our guest contributors
, , , , , and , you all complete me!
To my mentors
I’ve been fortunate enough to ask for (and receive) advice from a number of authors I respect, including, in no particular order:
Ben Shpigel, childhood friend who writes for the NY Times
Howard Beck, writer for GQ — see the excellent “The Art of the NBA Nap” — who was gracious and had a call with me after Ben introduced us
, college friend, podcast mogul, and creator of
, new friend, portfolio career guru, and creator of
Dan Pink, author of some of my favorite business books and occasional pen pal, who has been generous with his time and had a call with me that in many ways helped give rise to TND (IOU a cocktail!)
Here’s to six more months of TND — we have some cool stuff in store!
Fun fact: thus far, 2/3 of our guest contributors’ names begin with the letter “B” — Bomber, Barry, Bunsen, and Brooke — with Grizz representing the letter “G,” the President representing the letter “J” (or colloquially, the letter “P”). Fingers crossed we’re going to have some representation from the letter “R” (or perhaps an “E,” depending on his tbd moniker) later in the week.
Calendar days. Remember that my initial commitment was to post every day of the year, then we switched to six a week like two weeks later when we remembered that our forebears rested one day each week. Plus it can be challenging to post each day — as you may recall, we’ve missed a few days here and there — so one day’s respite has made TND more sustainable for us.
