Mapping the Nap Fantastic
How do you take yours?
What makes a nap ideal? To each their own, but I’m going with three to four main variables:
Location
Temperature
Time constrained (yes/no)
Pants (yes/no)
Considering these variables, for me, the pinnacle of nap zen is the in bed, mildly cool (60-65F), not time constrained, no-pants nap.

A no-pants nap means business. You’ve decided this is going to happen, and damn straight it will be thermally ideal. You will not get hot. You will not have sweatpants bunching up when you roll over. No belt buckles will dig into your tummy if you’re a belly sleeper. You will enjoy being enrobed by a blanket. Slumber will be, well, dreamy. Do I need a “bed AC” or “cooling sheets?” No. I just take off my pants.

Don’t get me wrong — when a nap falls into another category, such as an in the car, kind of warm in the sun, constrained to 15 minutes, pants-on nap, it’s still a nap and I’m thankful to have taken it. But the no-pants nap is still my nap zenith.
I know you’re now asking, “What about shorts?” Shorts don’t count as no-pants. They’re still an extra layer over “the whites,” so to speak.
We will be setting up in the coming weeks the editorial board’s analysis of nap variables. Come back soon!
