Late in the Day Nap

A conundrum if ever one was

I’ve taken to staying up late to stream things my wife doesn’t like to watch — random series, horror movies, etc. My most recent late-night movie was Tenet, a 2020 film by Christopher Nolan that I’ll need to re-watch several times to understand. While I’ve enjoyed the movies and the late night thing more generally, the downside is that I’m often tired during the day.

This movie is awesome, especially John David Washington (Denzel’s son) and the soundtrack overall.

So I woke up late (to my wife’s dismay) and tired (to mine) and began a particularly busy day that included a guitar lesson with my high school guitar teacher I regret not taking more seriously in the late 90s — he’s still he best guitarist I’ve ever known — as well as a “sweetheart dance” at our little one’s school. Come 5:30pm, when we got home, I was wrecked.

My back hurt, so I laid down on the Moon Pod because it felt good. I immediately began to feel drowsy and knew that I had to sleep — but I was in a precarious situation, as a nap this late in the day could be trouble if not executed perfectly. My three-year old was in the room and not helping with my need for a nap — this was going to be tricky.

I laid back, set an alarm for 15 minutes, and closed my eyes. My little one didn’t make it easy, but I managed to lose consh and came away feeling the just right amount refreshed.

So how do I feel about this? Mixed. More tomorrow.
