Emergency Post: Napping Holidays 1
Thomas Alva Edison's birthday
You’re probably wondering why we’re posting twice today, given our ground rules of daily posts, six days a week. This is because we have to recognize a most important day that took place on our day of rest and non-publication: Thomas Alva Edison’s birthday.

Yesterday would have been TAE’s 176th birthday. It was also Shabbos, the Jewish day of rest and the one day each week that we don’t roll post. Whatever were we to do?! Should we violate our rules and post on our day of rest? Is that better or worse than celebrating with a late post?
Rabbi Evan is sure that TAE timed it this way to test us in this very moment, foreseeing the creation of TND and our appreciation of TAE. I’d also note that the number seven is important in Judaism, symbolizing holiness and sanctification: and if you add up each digit in 176 gematria style, we get double seven, a most holy number.

Henrietta reasoned that there’s always time for work: TAE himself demonstrated this better than anyone. We knew we couldn’t post. We also couldn’t disrupt the flow of our Nappin’ Ain’t Easy series that we just wrapped up (for now). So we decided to go with a double post day. Breaking new ground here.
So how did we celebrate the man on his special day? With a trifecta, natch — and a holy one, at that. So raise a mug of sleepytime tea to the man, the myth, the legend, TAE!
