Baby Steps to a Hat Trick
Dr. Marvin! Dr. Leo Marvin!
[Ed. note: Hen wrote this yesterday and sent the draft right as NapBot hit “publish” — so I’ve editorialized a bit for timing.]
Well, two days in a row isn’t quite a streak, and it’s far from a heater, but it does count as progress after a frightful few days without a nap. The key is that not all naps are easily predicted in advance. Sometimes, I need to create the circumstances to make a nap happen. I’m proud of those, and the other day was one of those days. So busy, couldn’t find a pocket of time, and had to will myself to achieve some extremely needed me-time and rest.
Yesterday was a similar challenge but for a different reason. Beautiful day outside combined with a light work schedule. This was more of a challenge to go inside and take time away from the gloriousness of the weather and the rare opportunity to enjoy it with the kids. I was focused on enjoying some Vitamin D in the yard playing with the kids, and throwing the ball to the dog on the beach.
But a nap isn’t removing myself from these pleasures. A nap is preparing myself and making sure I can fully immerse myself in them and enjoy them to their fullest extent. It’s not wasting the day; it’s recouping to enjoy more of it.
Looking forward to a hat trick later today.
