Almost Napless but Not Quite

Looking up, it’s looking like my losing streak is done

I’ve had heaters before. Great stretches where I consistently find — or create —  time for a nap. 15/30/45, the rare 60 . . . they all count and they all help.

Now to the opposite.

Too busy to nap? Rarely a voluntary state of being (and never a satisfying one)…

I’ve noted that Sundays are difficult for me, given parenting responsibilities. Of course, that’s not an excuse in and of itself. As they say in Fleishman Is in Trouble, there’s a reason why you are supposed to put your oxygen mask on before your kids. You can’t be your best for them if you aren’t in a good place yourself. As we’ve discussed, creating me-time and choosing to spend it this way is important for mental and physical health. But a day here and there without a nap isn’t the worst thing and so I pulled an all-dayer. But then, Monday was busy. And all of a sudden, so was Tuesday.

Three straight days with no nap. Is this what it’s like for GenPop?

As of 2pm this afternoon, I told the TND team that I was staring at a possibly unprecedented 4th straight all-dayer. In fact, that was meant to be the basis of this post.

But necessity is the father of invention. And a nap was just so necessary. So at 4:15, I decided to leverage my past learnings. I carved out 15 minutes — something I wouldn’t have considered before Nap Week, figuring it was impossibly short. But now I am enlightened. And those 15 minutes rescued me. As importantly, hopefully the start of a new streak.
