It has been a while since I have sent a newsletter, sorry about that! A big reason for the break was my focus on Spectrum, but with the acquisition in November I hope to write more this year (so far, so good).

Spectrum is an open source chat app for large online communities. With the benefit of hindsight, here are the technology choices I regret.

Writing this down really helped me crystallize my thoughts and extract the learnings. I have been thinking about keeping a decision journal to improve my decision making skills, have you done that? If so, let me know how it has worked out, I am curious.

You might also notice that I have moved my blog back to my personal website (from mxstbr.blog). The old content is still there, but moving it to mxstbr.com hopefully motivates me to write and also allowed me to rethink the tech stack. P.S.: You might notice that the newsletter also looks a bit different (so many changes!). That is because I moved from MailChimp to buttondown.email, a lovely newsletter service by an indie dev that allows me compose in markdown. 😍 Would highly recommend it!
