So January Just Keeps Happening to Us

This is edition of the newsletter is about surviving.

  1. I left Meta apps early and you can find me on Bluesky.

  2. Read No Promises, a stunning piece by Allison Field Bell in the Chestnut Review (CW: domestic violance.)

  3. Spitting Off the Edge of the World is one of my favorite songs. I mean, it’s Yeah Yeah Yeahs + Perfume Genius, so.

  4. Check out Rifqa by Mohammed El-Kurd, a gorgeous and challenging collection of poetry. 🍉 Consider donating to PCRF, please. 🍉

  5. A note that Trans Lifeline won’t call the cops if you or someone you know is in crisis. I love you, please stay with us.

  6. I wrote a poem about raccoons and birds.

A poem shared in a block of text for formatting purposes, which reads: Raccoons young ones, are having a fight on the deck over the bird feeder, the biggest one is shaking it to try & get the seeds to fall right in its mouth & even though black sunflower seeds scatter in the snow the smaller raccoons tug & shove each other for their chance to be next to hold and shake the bird feeder into their own mouths & the birds wait at a distance, ready to dart in & snatch the leavings the birds are watching seeds fall from the raccoon’s mouth & twittering it’s fine it’s food it’s fine it’s fine it’s all just fine
