PROJECT GROUP INTEREST FORMS
ARE STILL OUT!!!
We at MuSE @ NYU are seeking driven and motivated for participation in our creative and technical project groups. The creative project groups typically revolve around utilizing technologies to create expressive art, while the technical project involves building musical systems from the ground up.

Students from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply to the respective project groups that they are most interested in (or both, that's okay too, but we still need your commitment!!!!!).

You can find these forms on our Linktree. the deadline to submit project group interest is Oct. 3, 11:59pm.

we will be playing music from this playlist during our meetings and events in October.

📌 Next General Meeting Date & Time: Monday, Oct. 5 (7 – 8 PM) Location: 6th floor conference Room, 35 W. 4th St What To Expect: Research talk by Chuyang Chen, PhD student, NYU MARL, on "Probing Spatial Structure in Pretrained Audio Representations" (Chen, Ding, Roman, Bello). Pretrained audio models know what a sound is. Do they know where it came from, or what room it was in? Chuyang presents SARL, a benchmark that puts that question to thirteen widely used models. No background needed. Talk and Q&A, open to all NYU students.

🎈 Previous Meeting Digital Audio Primer: foot-in-the-door to DSP with application to audio. Talked about continuous vs. discrete signals, sampling, quantization, dithering, samples/audio blocks, plugin design, the FFT, and some of its applications broadly. Chuyang Chen — Music and Audio Research Laboratory


Chuyang Chen is a PhD Student at MARL. With a background in music technology, computer science, and electrical engineering, Chuyang is passionate about building machine listening systems using artificial intelligence, signal processing, and mathematical modeling techniques. His past research topics include beat tracking, music similarity, urban acoustics, and audio-visual analysis.
