#60 (allegedly)
Issue #60 (allegedly)
Hello, friends.
This week has been full of improv. Every week is pretty full of improv to be honest, but this one has been more improvful than most.
I had an amazing time teaching in Israel at a beautiful eco art space near the valley where David (allegedly) beat Goliath. One hundred and thirty improvisers and I was the only one that didn't speak Hebrew. Wild!
I then got a chance to study with twin suns of improv genius - Maria Peters and Suki Webster. Such a privilege to spend a day with them, soaking up all that experience and wisdom. And check out their Joy Story show if you get the chance.
Okay, see you next time.
Make good choices!
Rule of three
[Improv] Beyond the Basement podcast
I'm very proud of this. Chris Kenworthy is an improviser and transformational life coach who recently attended my very first Improv Fables weekend intensive. In this podcast, he talks about his experiences on the course. It's so strange to have one's improv methodology discussed with such focus and insight. If you're interested in attending one of my intensives - this will give you some idea what to expect. All Improv Fables events are currently sold out but please join the waiting list here. There's a big one coming up soon.
[Science] The Thagomizer
I was delighted to find out that the distinctive arrangement of four spikes on the end of a stegosaurus's tail is colloquially called the Thagomizer within the scientific community, named for the late Thag Simmons.
[Design] Steve Jobs Archive
Steve Jobs was a controversial figure, no doubt. But he sure is fascinating. This website is beautifully designed (as you would expect) and contains a free ebook of Job's writing called Make Something Wonderful that is definitely worth your time.
Spotlight
I've got some exciting announcements planned for the next few weeks but for now this is a reminder that all three of these classes are more than 50% sold. Grab 'em while you can!

Praise for Mockumentary NOW!:
"I was worried that this format would be heavily premise-based. I think with any other teacher it might have been. Instead, Chris taught us to tap into characters and unlock details intuitively. In the end, we all looked very very clever and hilarious, nearly effortlessly. Very satisfying!"
"Chris is such a fantastic teacher. He brings the benefits of his experience as a performer and helps us to see what works well and, alternatively, what gets in the way. He stresses the positive and he is always exited at what the group achieves. Do this course. It will bring joy to your life."
Longform thoughts
My duo partner, Katy Schutte is one of the absolute top improvisers in the whole world. She’s a globally-renowned teacher, a startlingly talented performer and a published author too. I’ve been so very lucky to work with her for so very long. But the things that inspire me the most about her aren’t the obvious things.
Read about all the ways Katy Schutte taught me to be a better person and a better improviser in Be more Katy.
