#54 Close your eyes

Issue #54 Close your eyes

22nd March 2023

Happy Wednesday, friends!

I'm travelling up to Birmingham this weekend to teach an extended version of my favourite workshop - Get into Trouble, Fall in Love.

I lived in Birmingham for a number of years after I got my first real job in International Development. It was a special time. I was in my mid-twenties and the world seemed so full of potential. I can't wait to meet the improv community there.

Actually, now that I think about it, the world still seems full of potential. Maybe that's just how the world is?

Rule of three

Brett Goldstein lays in a coffin surrounded by film reels.

[Podcast] Films to be Buried With
After my Shrinking/ Ted Lasso recommendations in the last few weeks, a number of you wrote back to sing the praises of Brett Goldstein's Films to be Buried With. And you were all absolutely right. The Roy Kent actor is brilliant, sensitive, funny and on-brand sweary as he hosts this podcast about life, death and cinema. What films would form the tapestry of your life?

The three Stave sisters sing into a microphone.

[Music] The Staves
I can't believe I haven't mentioned this band yet. They are responsible for my official all-time favourite song of all time ever full stop. If you're going to listen to Blood I Bled, you must promise me to do it with the best headphones you have at your disposal. And sit still. And close your eyes.

An 8-bit graphic of the protagonists of The Banshees of Inisherin

[Game] Banshees
The Banshees of Inisherin was my favourite film of 2022. Now PLAY THE GAME.

Spotlight

My Improv Fables intensive weekend in April sold out in under 4 hours and so I'm repeating the same course 3rd-4th June 2023. If you missed out on the first one, you can book here. I'll wait a week before sharing it more widely.
