#130 Densely packed
Imam. Priest. Athiest.
Issue #130 Densely packed
4th September 2024
How does this keep happening?
As you read this, I will be on a cross-country road trip to Nottingham with my friends Tanine and Gael, bound for the Robin Hood International Improv Festival.
We’ve been rehearsing a new show all day. I’m really proud of it and can’t wait for people to see it. You can read more about it in Spotlight below.
We’re planning to get up at 6 am, hence this issue is being delivery by automation and I’m writing it in your past.
Although, I suppose I’m always writing it in your past.
Hello from Tuesday, here are some things to brighten up your day!
Rule of three
[Comic] TMNT
I’ve always loved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and this new comic is a brilliant take on the mythos. It’s written by Jason Aaron who is an absolute superstar writer, gritty and profound. Truthfully, I have to pinch myself that he’s writing this series at all. It’s like getting Irvine Welsh to script the Teletubbies.
[Cinema] The Sustained Two Shot
I ate up this six minute YouTube video about the history of the two shot in cinema. It’s clear, informative and densely packed with examples. If you’re even vaguely interested in the mechanics of cinema, give it a watch.
[Music] Down the Road
Gael tells me this song was very famous in France when it was released but I’d never heard it. I was introduced to it by the sweetest, bendiest, genius improviser on the planet - Diego Ingold. It turns my days to sunshine.
Spotlight
Come and see An Imam, A Priest, and an Atheist Walk Into a Bar at this year’s Robin Hood International Improv Festival. In it, Gael, Tanine and I (raised atheist, Muslim, Christian) will attempt to settle the matter of religion once and for all. Just sort it out basically. With improv.
