Tony's Pick
These type specimens from the late 18th and early 19th centuries look decidedly modern to me. In some cases more like lettering done today that's inspired by past examples, in some cases like something from 1970 or 1990.
Kyle's Pick
I finally got around to playing this super underground board game called Brass: Birmingham. (This is a joke. It is the #1 ranked game on Board Game Geek at the moment.) I didn't exactly know what to expect going in, but really enjoyed it.
Its sensibilities are distinctly Euro—build a coal mine so you can build an iron mine so you can build a cotton mill so you can sell cotton so you can get more coal—but I found the scoring system to be especially elegant.
