My High School German teacher worked hard to expose us to contemporary German culture, and one highlight was screening Run Lola Run in class (in the original German, of course!) I haven’t seen it in 20 years, but it was an early exposure to media outside the mainstream. It felt so damn cool! Anyway, it’s getting a new theatrical release in June to celebrate its 25th anniversary. I think I’ll enjoy that format much more than the 20 inch tube TV on a cart in the corner of the classroom.

I spend a good chunk of my weekend playing a new puzzle game called Islands of Insight. There are puzzles everywhere — the developers claim over 10,000 in total — so I usually solve about 20 puzzles on the way to my intended destination. Some puzzles are trivial, such as finding a shimmering hidden block or finding the right perspective so that a group of spheres in the distance forms a circle, and others are much more challenging, like complex logic puzzles across 256 grid squares.
If you like the brain-burning puzzles of The Witness and the feeling of exploration from Breath of the Wild, this game might scratch an itch for you. (And if you found The Witness to be extremely difficult at times, this game is definitely easier.) There is also a generous free demo on Steam if you want to try it out.
