It's a brand new baby newsletter!
Hey Moon Goons!
This is Chris, bringing you the first edition of our Moonshot newsletter, which will hopefully be an easy way to keep track of everything we have going on without relying on algorithms to kick our tweets to you! We’re planning on using this space as a roundup of projects we’re working on currently, things our shows have going on, and a list of bonuses that our Patreon supporters have gotten. But! If you’ve got ideas of other things you’d like to see in these going forward, let us know!
MOON WORK
Our biggest projects at the moment are trying to get our website built and prepping for this year’s Extra Life. This is the really exciting stage where everyone is pitching fun, ambitious ideas for segments and we (mostly people like Andrew, Riley, and Marn) have to figure out how to make them work. With this year’s Extra Life being on October 22nd, rather than the traditional November, we’ve been calling the event Hextra Life, because of Halloween and whatever made me this way. Video editing and many other things extraordinaire Marn Lastname put together a little teaser you might have missed:
(Side note, if you aren’t already subscribed to our YouTube channel, you’re being a silly head, because we post the VODs from our Twitch streams, teasers like the one above for things to come, and extra videos you won’t see anywhere else, like compilations of our Pokemon Showdown Showdown promos where we all creatively talked shit about each other.)
Regrettably, this year’s Extra Life stream won’t be in person, but if you saw the Moon Landing stream back in May you know that we’re capable of putting on a great show digitally. And if you’ve been along for the ride with us for a while, you know how fun our Extra Life streams are. 24 hours straight of Moonshot madness, raising a shitload of money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. It’s a highlight of our year every year.
MOON NEWS
Hey Kids, Forums! Riley has created Moonshotproboards34com in the public Moonshot Discord, so if you’d like to go back to the past with us, that’s a fun new way you can keep in touch with us and your fellow Mooninites.
Sonic Sundays may be over, but Riley and Andrew’s Tactics streams on our Twitch channel (every Thursday night) weren’t alone for long! Andrew and his wife Sam, who is really not very good at Mario Party, are now doing Sleepover Sundays, a weekly stream on Sunday evenings where they’re playing a Nuzlocke run of a ROMhack called Pokemon Ephemerald in PJs. I don’t know what a lot of those words mean, but I’m hoping to join them on an episode soon! Wait, why are you unsubscribing, don’t touch that
Have you been listening to Roma Ostman’s The Hyperfixation? They’re looking for listener feedback in this survey during the break between the recently finished Season 1 and the new Season 2!
The Hyperfixation: Listener Survey
Hey there! Thank you for taking time in your life to listen to my fun little show! Being able to get new hyperfixations is honestly my favorite thing in the world. Of course, if I can make the show better- I want to! This is where I need your help. Can I get some of your input on the show for season 2?
To peel the onion a little bit, Hyperfix was not just one of the first shows we brought on during our X-Men First Class of podcast pitches, it was the first of what we’ve been calling our Pilot Program, where rather than submitting a show that’s already most of the way ready to go, Roma had an idea and a pilot, and one of the 27 Moonshot co-founders, Jay, helped them develop it.
I asked my good buddy Roma to give you all some insight on what that process was like for them:
“The Moonshot Pilot Program was a wonderful experience as someone who has podcasted in the past but is a first time host. Having a community to work with and share knowledge with is invaluable for a new host! The whole process was smooth. My assigned mentors supported me the whole way. I couldn't ask for more!”
And this is what Jay* had to say about it: “The Hyperfixation is a great show, and the only way it could be any better is if Chris had helped develop it.”

The Hyperfixation is a fun show that’s been a great fit for the network, and as the first podcast fulfilling our goal of using our platform to help people get podcasts off the ground, we’re all really proud of Roma’s killer work (which if you didn’t know includes episode-specific unique intros, the great artwork they do for each episode, and Twitch streams of the things from the episodes when applicable) and we’re happy to see how engaged its listenership has been in the Hyperfixation channel of the Moonshot discord. Check the show out if you haven’t yet! You just might learn a thing or two about Mortal Kombat or obscure religious figures.
MOON BOONS
This month, our patrons will have received:
-Five early releases of Dead Teen House Party, our MTV’s Scream recap podcast.
-Two early releases of Champs in the Making, our Pokemon bracket podcast.
-One Ghost (1990) episode of our Patreon exclusive Once Missed Wonders, where we watch classic movies for the first time.
-One episode of our Patreon exclusive Moon Reports, where Riley interviews Moonshot hosts about their history as creators. This month’s episode features Juliet of Moonshot First Class’s I’ll Be Pod for Castmas!
-And a partridge in a pear tree.*
Speaking of our Patreon, we had recently announced our first Patreon goal: if we reach 100 patrons, we’ll launch a new regular Twitch show called Parliamoont, where a rotating cast of Moonshot creators rule on pop culture debates, collaboratively rank tier lists, fight over Champs-style brackets, and defend their problematic faves. Our dumb fights about food delivery will be a little less embarrassing if they’re done for your entertainment instead of just taking over our staff Discord for a day.
But wait! There’s more! Because we also just set our second Patreon goal: if we reach 80 patrons, we will do a special live streamed episode of Champs in the Making where we’ll go through a Neopets bracket. If Bruce doesn’t win we’re going to have a problem.
All of us internally are really excited about doing these, and we’ve done our best to make our Patreon tiers affordable for you, so do what y’all are so good at and make our dreams come true!
UPCOMING EVENTS
