Fight for Your Right to (Mario) Party and HEXTRA LIFE THIS WEEKEND!
Hello Moon Goons! Famous Thing poster Chris here!
It's a big week on the moon, maybe the biggest ever. Sure the Neil Armstrong stuff was cool, but did they raise any money for Beaumont Children's Hospital? No, they did it all for selfish, nationalistic gain.
Tonight at 8 pm EST on twitch.tv/moonshotnetwork, I'll be hosting the Fight for Your Right to (Mario) Party stream. If you missed my promo (edited by Jay) announcing it a little while back, Riley, Marn, Sam, Claudia, and Neassa will be playing Fall Guys, and the top 3 will receive invitations to my Mario Party Championship Party at Hextra Life on Sunday. But they won't be alone, because I have enlisted 5 mercenaries to disrupt the game, some from my very own Mario Party past. People who understand what it's like to grit your teeth and survive 50 Turn Mario Parties night after night, with only cheesy poofs from Walmart and my mom's baked goods to sustain you. I can't wait to see what happens when these two groups clash.
If (when) one of those surviving 3 beat me at my own party on Sunday, I will be forced to hand over my most beautiful creation, the Moonshot Mario Party Championship.
I just hope it's Sam so I don't have to mail it.
But I'm burying the lede here! Hextra Life? This weekend? What's that all about?
If you're a newer fan who only joined up in the Moonshot era, this will be our fourth year participating in an event called Extra Life, where intrepid streamers go live for 24 hours raising money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. We chose Beaumont because all the important Moon Shooters are Michiganders. Here's the schedule for this year's event so you can plan to be there for whichever segments you wanna catch. It's like a music festival without all the things that suck.
"But wait Chris, charity is cool and all, but I'm a selfish prick. Isn't there anything in it for people like me?"
Besides an entire weekend of free entertainment, you ingrate? Actually, there is! We have donation incentives to reward the people who are kind enough to give, ulterior motives or not.
I really want to play Family Feud, so I hope you'll donate, share, or both to help us get there. And you don't even have to wait until Saturday to start the push!
You can donate at any time, right here.
As announced in a video here, if we get to $500 before we start on Saturday, Riley will start watching One Piece. That may not sound like a big deal, but watching One Piece is an endeavor that you will not finish until your children put you in a home someday. You're basically giving Riley homework for the rest of their life. Now THAT's a worthy cause.
In all sincerity, Extra Life is a blast every year, and although we're bummed we can't do it in person like we usually do, we're really excited to bring you this weekend slate of segments, and we hope our audience will do what they always do, and that's blow our goals and expectations away with their generosity. But mostly, we just hope you'll join us.
Oh, just one more thing: a message from Riley.
"This is my sixth straight Extra Life, and my fourth here with my friends who make up what has become the Moonshot Podcast Network - and every year your support helps us blow the last out of the water.
Not only is your donation an immediate benefit to the Beaumont Children's Hospital, but seeing us push further year after year invigorates all of us here at Moonshot to keep shooting the damn Moon. Knowing we have an audience that shows up for these events is so energizing. It really feels amazing to not only give to a good cause, but to put on a great show for you.
I am so excited to shoot the Moon again with everyone this weekend, and I can't wait to see you there. It's going to be an amazing show that has had a ton of work put into it (shout out again to Marn who has been doing the lion's share of the planning and plotting while doing the same for HER WEDDING).
Bring your friends. Bring your family. Don't forget your spacesuits. We'll see you on Saturday for HEXTRA LIFE."
