This Week in Coffee; Wednesday 14th of June '23

Welcome hombres. This week Reddit is in blackout and I’m not going to crosspost my work to r/Coffee.

Truthfully, this has been a long time coming. While I love the r/coffee subreddit and sympathise with the admins, their rules are extremely restrictive and I’ve been getting decreasing levels of engagement each week. I still love the subreddit and will use it for news - but I’m going to switch over to twitter as my main platform for the time being.

You can follow me @MoonHeadCoffee on Twitter for the moment. Long-term, I think Instagram will be the best platform (or tiktok).

And now, the news

Equipment

No equipment news this week sadly.

Start-Ups

  • The Green Coffee Company Completes $25 Million Series C Equity Funding Round

  • Cuzen Matcha Raises $3.6 Million in Series A

Industry

  • Robusta prices hit record high

After Arabica prices rose and peaked, now Robusta prices are doing the same. The price rises in Arabica have rippled out as traders have sought a cheaper alternative.

  • NKG acquires majority control of Green Coffee Trader Nordic Approach

  • Mozambique High Commission exhibits coffee tasting experience in London

  • UK Coffee at Home Report is released (but it costs 4000 GBP)
