MOON BULLETIN - the longest nights make for the sweetest hangs
I love this time of year for how it encourages a slowing down. The leaves have mostly fallen from the trees, most nights are below freezing, and the holidays make for a quieter, less frantic schedule of events. Gathering is still the spirit of the season, but for me that’s looked like game nights, dinner parties, baking cookies, and making plans only to decide we all want to watch a movie instead.
It’s also the time for looking ahead to 2026. I find myself tracing the contours of the past year and wondering what will remain with me as we cross the threshold, and what will fall away. One intention I can already feel strongly is to continue to create freely. So one thing I’m hoping to put together is a Snail Mail Zine Club. Basically, a group of friends and strangers who send each other zines. Each month you either get a zine or make one. This is meant to be low effort but high reward, and an experiment in how we stay in connection and inspiration across physical distance, without relying on social media. If you’re interested, I’d love to have you join me <3. Info about it and how to join in this link, basically you just need to email me and you’re in! (and pls share with friends, especially if they don’t live in nyc)
Also, reminder to come get a moon calendar, if you want one for yourself, your friends, your family, your ex-lover, whoever! Been offering the cost of $5 or barter, willing to take anything you think is of a similar worth :)

🌘 Holiday Market at Rhodora: Waning Crescent (Sat Dec 13 @ 9am). Tis the weekend for holiday markets galore. I’ll be at this one supporting a recent collaborator Mona’s terrific illustrations/comics, and enjoying the general good vibes of a Ft Greene farmers market Saturday. Free.
🌘 Press Play at Pioneer Works: Waning Crescent (Sat Dec 13 - Sun Dec 14). All sorts of publishers will be present sharing ephemera, zines, et cetera. I like it as a time to get a sense of what themes are emerging across different disciplines. Plus Pioneer Works just has a good vibe, worth the trek! $10 Saturday, Free Sunday.
🌘 S.H.I.T.P.H.O.N.E. at 5th Ave & Central Park South: Waning Crescent (Sat Dec 13 @ 2pm). Catharsis at the apple store… featuring gnome hats, smashing iPads, and irreverence to the power of consumerism in the midst of holiday shopping. The tourists are going to be gawking. Free.
🌘 Monthly Molting: Goose at Prospect Park: Waning Crescent (Sun Dec 14 @ 1pm). Snow, sleet, or shine, we’ll be out in the park thinking about the goose and its lessons for transformation as we enter into the depths of winter. Possibly some roughhousing in the snow prior! Stay tuned… Free.
🌘 Earth Chxrch at Quaker Meeting House: Waning Crescent (Sun Dec 14 @ 7pm). Radical activist performance from Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping. A balm for these cold exploitative times! Free.
🌑 New Moon (Fri Dec 19). This close to the solstice, the new moon will be the longest darkest night of the year. I’ll be welcoming it on the side of a Colorado mountain, enjoying the winter silence of snow and sleep. Then, warming up by the fireplace. Last new moon of the year!
🌒 Winter Solstice: Waxing Crescent (Sun Dec 21). The shortest day and longest night of the year can be a time to celebrate all of the closing and lengthening the winter season brings us. Attaching a poem that inspired a ritual my dear friend Soy led last year, on burning the old year (and welcoming in the new one!). I’ll be recreating it from the aforementioned mountain, basking in the starlight.
