MOON BULLETIN - slow down!

It’s the end of October in New York, and I’ve been spending my days with my leg up a wall, strapped to an ice pack, trying desperately to accelerate the healing process of a foot injury before halloween. My chances of success are unlikely, but I’ll still try! Sometimes, life just forces you to slow down, even when you really don’t want to. But if I can hardly fit my foot in my shoe, I probably shouldn’t be going! As we move into late autumn, the leaves continue to drop, the persimmons ripen, the ginkgos begin to yellow. Life is slowing down, or starting to, and so I’m trying to see this injury as a chance to listen in. Even if it’s really messing with my ability to do so many of the things I love. Like these events, coming up. I’m hoping to be at all of them, but the foot might keep me at bay… we will just have to see.

🌔 The Coven Seeks New Talent in Prospect Park: Waxing Gibbous (Fri Oct 31 @ 8pm). Our immersive Halloween party is coming soon. Expect broom racing, crawling around, getting spooked, doing some of the spooking. At capacity currently but join the waitlist in case folks drop! Free.

🌔 Retooling in Madison Square Park: Waxing Gibbous (Sat Nov 1 @ 1pm). Connor and Nick lead a workshop in understanding and reconfiguring your relationship to technology. Sure to be full of insights, practical tips, and friendship. Free.

🌕 Sidewalk Study on Whale Fall in Downtown Brooklyn: Full Moon (Wed Nov 5 @ 7pm). Whale fall is a fascinating phenomenon in which a whale’s carcass becomes a cornerstone of deep sea ecosystems. Hope and I are leading a study that explores the stages of whale fall and its lessons on decay and cycles for our lives and our city. Free, RSVP for address.

🌕 Beaver Moon Ritual in Park Slope: Full Moon (Fri Nov 7 @ 7pm). Come celebrate the full beaver moon at my apartment — bring an offering of a childhood favorite snack… I will be cooking up some eggo waffles (beaver tails). Free, RSVP for address.

🌖 Raise Your Voices at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park: Waning Gibbous (Sat Nov 8 @ 2pm). Join award-winning vocalists Bonita Oliver and Eli Berman for Raise Your Voices, a joyful afternoon of Circle Singing—a guided, improvised form of group singing that invites deep listening, creative freedom, and connection. Together, we’ll tune into our bodies, release social blocks, and rekindle collective joy through spontaneous song. Open to all voices and experience levels, this gathering offers a powerful space for healing, expression, and community. Come as you are—leave grounded, lifted, and vibrating! Free.
