MOON BULLETIN - Q1, L1263

In times where it seems like the only certain thing is how vast and well resourced your enemies are, it’s more important than ever to attend to local resilience. At times I feel speechless, at other times furious, at most times assailed by a dull sense of foreboding. It is in the small moments when I can exercise agency that I feel reassured of our resilience. This means staying off my phone, canvassing for a socialist mayoral candidate, studying a pivotal text with friends, seeing a beautiful show. I am trying to resist the notion that creative inquiry is frivolous amidst fascism. That’s why I wanted to theme this month’s moon party after resilience. When the cold seems unyielding, when the snow keeps falling, we need only to hold one another closer to know that we can make it through to spring together. February is the valley of winter, but it’s also when the first blooms of spring prepare to burst, the first migratory birds begin to pass by. Change is on the way. Maybe these gatherings can bring you warmth or — even better! — strengthen our resilience as we stare down a precarious future.

🌓 Canvass for Zohran: I canvassed for Zohran last week and found it to be a gratifying experience. There’s a variety of neighborhoods and dates to choose from — important to share a little optimism amongst the insanity of federal politics by focusing on the local. Yes, it’s possible to elect a socialist as mayor! Free.
