MOON BULLETIN - last warmest day ever
On probably four separate days this past month, I’ve declared that “it’s the last warm day of the year.” And then been proven wrong! It may not feel like autumn outside, but we’re getting there, bit by bit. I, for one, will be cooking up lots of cozy autumnal gatherings. I’ve been itching to do more baking, have soup nights, screen nostalgic movies, and bust out my light jackets again. Still, until we truly see it drop below 60 for a day, there are plenty of reasons to be spending lots of time outside. Some samples:
🌔 Denise Ferreira da Silva & Arjuna Neuman at St. Mark’s Church: Waxing Gibbous (Fri Oct 3 @ 8:00pm). Denise Ferreira da Silva is an inspiring (and at times really confusing!) writer; here she presents a collaborative work on fire as material for (re)making the world. $10.
🌔 Observe the Moon Night at Pioneer Works: Waxing Gibbous (Sat Oct 4 @ 6:30pm). NASA’s Observe the Moon Night is coming up, and in Brooklyn you can view her through provided telescopes and share in wonder with other moon-lovers. I mean, how could I not recommend it? Free.

🌕 Falling Leaves Moon at Fort Greene Park: Full Moon (Tue Oct 7 @ 7:00pm). Come find us to the East of the Monument at Ft Greene Park in celebration of October’s full moon, the Falling Leaves moon. Please bring an offering that represents transition for you, and we’ll gather in ritual (starting at 8:00pm) honoring another moon cycle. Also, if you have one, bring a blanket to sit on ✿ . Free.
🌕 Deadline to sign up for Rats, Pigeons, Cockroaches at School of Making Thinking: Full Moon (Tue Oct 7 @ 11:59pm). Sign up to take our class! Olivia and I will guide us through practices of making kin with our urban neighbors. Taught Thursday evenings from October 16 to November 6. $45-320 sliding scale.
🌖 After Hours at Stephen Friedman Gallery: Waning Gibbous (Wed Oct 8 @ 6:00pm). Dance to delicious beats by Anagha and Erica while enjoying some beautiful art in the gallery! Free.
🌖 Delete Day at Tompkins Square Park: Waning Gibbous (Fri Oct 10 @ 6:00pm). Come reclaim your attention from extractive tech, delete an account in a ritual (commencing at 7pm sharp), explore alternative tech options, and do it all with other people. So much of our tech isolates us, so our response should be in community. Come through! Free.
