MOON BULLETIN - change, sweet change
Things are shifting in New York. It got cold! We got a new mayor! Transition in the air. I love fall and winter and cold weather and cozy sweaters and long nights for dreaming and most of all I love the change. Day to day, the city changes and I do too, right alongside it. Rather than dwelling in the nostalgia, I’ve been trying to dream for what futures could be, what our winter might look like. And what a time to dream! Some things I’m dreaming about: delicious soups, free buses, the changing leaves on the japanese zelkova tree on my street, food for all our neighbors.
I have this drawing on the wall by my bed, which survived my most recent redecoration. It’s something of a vision board, and in big text it says “I want my life to be a series of experiments” … in a time of change, where we feel awash in both optimism and pessimism about the future, I’m trying to enjoy the ambiguity of an experiment. Lots of changes means lots of experiments, which means learning more about myself and the possible futures ahead of us. Many such experiments ahead, I hope to see some of yall there and share in the spirit of transition and possibility ✿
🌗 School of Making Thinking semester celebration at Abrons Art Center: Third Quarter (Wed Nov 12 @ 6pm). Come hear about the outcomes from Chimeras Collective’s class Rats, Pigeons, Cockroaches. It will be really casual and there will also be pizza, I think. Also, another class, Disabled Erotics, will be sharing. I’m curious to hear what they have to say. Free.
🌘 SHOULD WE GET OFF? at 875 3rd Ave: Waning Crescent (Fri Nov 14 @ 7pm). A moderated discussion about tech hopes and fears, featuring some fierce tech critics and writers. But it won’t feel like a panel, expect some interactions - and maybe a new perspective on what we can do in the movement against phone-obsession. Free.
🌘 Raise Your Voices at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park: Waning Crescent (Sat Nov 15 @ 1pm). Join award-winning vocalists Bonita Oliver and Eli Berman for Raise Your Voices, a joyful afternoon of Circle Singing—a guided, improvised form of group singing that invites deep listening, creative freedom, and connection. Together, we’ll tune into our bodies, release social blocks, and rekindle collective joy through spontaneous song. Open to all voices and experience levels, this gathering offers a powerful space for healing, expression, and community. Come as you are—leave grounded, lifted, and vibrating! Free.
🌑 New Moon (Wed Nov 19): I recently rearranged my bedroom, and so I’ll be using this New Moon as an opportunity to christen it with a ritual. I’ve been thinking about light and the way it influences my day, so my goal is to spend all evening without using electronic light or devices of any kind. Yes this does mean I’ll be bringing a candle with me to the bathroom…
🌑 Recycling Center Tour in Sunset Park: New Moon (Wed Nov 19 @ 3pm). Some neighbor friends and I are doing a small guided tour of a recycling center in Sunset Park. I’m pretty sure we still have a spot or two for anyone who wants to join and learn more about the ins and outs of our city infrastructure — text or email me to join! Free.

🌒 Consumption Book Club at telos.haus: Waxing Crescent (Sat Nov 22 @ 6pm). Been scheming on this one for a while. Colette has created a delicious tasting menu + wine pairings, all themed around Land of Milk and Honey by C Pam Zhang. Join for literary and culinary exploration - we’ll be facilitating activities and readings that ask what responsible and sustainable consumption might look like. You’ll also get a zine that I’ve been lovingly designing this week! $80.

If you’re in town for the Thanksgiving holiday and would like to join, all are welcome to come over to my house and feast, dance, make art, and hang out. Bring a dish!
