MOON BULLETIN - bury me on Daffodil Hill
A little taste of spring and suddenly I’m repeating the same things over and over again: “we really made it, didn’t we?” and “maybe there is a god…” One of my favorite things about the transition to warmer weather is the sensation of being unencumbered. I bike over the bridge in just a t-shirt! I don’t have to curse myself when I forget my gloves at home! How glorious. The changing of the seasons brings with it all sorts of new postures, too — on Monday at Fort Greene Park I found myself reminded of the feeling of dirt between my toes, of the constant shifting to find a new comfortable posture when picnicking. So while we return to sub-fifty degree temperatures and bring back out the coats we prematurely stashed away, maybe we can see this time as practice for what is to come. It does, after all, take time to meet the transition.
The spring ephemera have been out in full force - if you haven’t already, I highly recommend a visit to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, where the snowdrops and crocuses are shining bright. Soon enough Daffodil Hill will be abuzz with bees and butterflies drinking the sweet nectar of spring. We, too, can enjoy the sweet nectars of this season! Coming together, enjoying delicious treats, dancing the night away; these are all the blooms of a life well lived. Speaking of which, check out these cuties at the recent Worm Moon ritual [worm emoji]. Hope to see some of yall soon <3

🌑 New Moon (Thu Mar 19). This new moon coincides closely with the spring equinox, inviting in reflection on equanimity and balance. How are your heart, mind, and body balanced in this season of emergent transition? I’ll be holding my personal new moon ritual with an eye towards the interplay between old and new in my life — in projects, dreams, activities, and relationships.

🌑 it’s the spring equinox so we are gonna climb on all our tallest things and celebrate the sun together and also balance just like the earth our home at Mount Prospect Park: New Moon (Fri Mar 20 @ 5:35pm). Bring your tallest things (stepladder, stilettos, stilts, etc) and your balance-buddies (slackline, exercise ball, roller skates). Also we will cast a spell on Equinox the fitness place for turning such a sacred moment into a symbol of elite consumption. Meet at Mount Prospect Park, the park between the library and botanic garden, not in Prospect Park itself (closer to the sun this way)! Free.
🌒 Kelptropolis at Index Greenpoint: Waxing Crescent (Sat Mar 21 & Sun Mar 22 @ 7pm). I’m so excited to facilitate this journey into the generous currents surrounding Sakhalin Island with Mischa. We’ll feast on some of the cuisine that connects Sakhalin’s Russian, Japanese, Korean, and Indigenous populations, while asking how taste might connect us to the interspecies worlds of a far-away ecosystem. Saturday night sold our quickly, so we’re adding a Sunday soon, keep an eye on Index’s page to snag a ticket <3. $130.
