MOON BULLETIN - 2026 is the year of the moon (like every year)

First bulletin of the year, and now the official first anniversary of when I started this newsletter after the Wolf Moon of 2025. How special to see your children grow up! When I first started sending this, I wasn’t sure how long it would last. Mostly, I just wanted to stop texting everyone in my contacts every single time I hosted anything. I still do so, but slightly less! And there have been dozens of moments of joyful encounter emerging from this newsletter.

So moving into 2026, just a reminder to share events that you / loved ones are hosting which you think might be a good fit for this newsletter. I want it to continue to feel small in scale but big in heart, bringing together so many of the folks who bring so much love into my life. And truly each and every time someone has positively mentioned my newsletter to me, my heart soars and I redouble my motivation to keep it alive (and pay for it… shit’s not free…). So I’m always delighted to hear how it touches yall’s lives, if at all <3.

🌒 OBSERVER Launch at ACE Hotel: Waning Crescent (Thu Jan 15 @ 6:30pm). Field Meridians is launching an ecology oriented newspaper for Crown Heights. Something I would love to see happen in every neighborhood across the world. So awesome! Free.

🌒 Diamond CLUB at Paragon: Waning Crescent (Fri Jan 16 @ 9:30pm). I’ve been wanting to share more dancing on this newsletter, since it’s such a big part of my life. Problem is, I usually make more last minute decisions about when/where to go dancing. Not this time, though, as I snatched up a ticket as soon as I saw Verraco would be playing; he’s one of my absolute favorites. $25, $10 before 11pm.

🌑 New Moon (Sun Jan 18). The first new moon of the year offers a chance for reflection and ritual about the different cycles that we live with and through. One month ago, in the last new moon of 2025, who was I? How have I changed in the past week, the past year, the past decade? How will I change between now and the upcoming snow moon in February? Maybe one of these rhythms you’ll find yourself more deeply attending to. Or maybe another cycle that’s important to how you experience your life. Let the new moon be a guide, helping you set intentions for the moments to come.

🌑 A Night to Nourish in Gowanus: New Moon (Mon Jan 19 @ 6:30pm). Kayla is hosting this delightful wellness workshop, community gathering, and soft reset for the year ahead. It’s sure to be the warmest part of your winter. Also, soup! $20 for you + a friend.

🌘 Attensity! Launch Party at Judson Memorial Church: Waxing Crescent (Tue Jan 20 @ 6:30pm). Attensity is a book about attention and its liberation. This launch party will bring the attention practices to a historic venue, celebrating what’s possible outside extractivist doomscroll ecosystems. There’s also a Brooklyn launch which I’ll be facilitating at the following day, on Jan 21. Also, I made this website for the manifesto :). $5, $30 with book.

🌘 Queer(ing) Design at Index Chinatown: Waxing Crescent (Thu Jan 22 @ 7:30pm). How can queerness reorient design? I’m really curious for this gathering, in particular because most applications of queerness to design feel … contrived. Let’s get into it! $30.

🌘 Ben’s Health at Caveat: Waxing Crescent (Fri Jan 23 @ 9:30pm). Ben’s hosting this evening of comedy which I can hardly describe myself, so I’ll just copy the event description: Ben’s Health Magazine is a live performance magazine to help men do better. Inspired by a voluntary vasectomy Ben celebrated in July 2025, this experimental comedy show promises everything you love about your favorite grocery store checkout periodical: Relationships! Recipes! Celebrity fitness routines! Sexual health! And more. Always more.. $24.
