NFTSR March 2026

Hello, DevOps friends!

In my continuous efforts to either self-host the services I rely on, or at least to support another small business, I’ve switched my newsletter to Buttondown. I’ve been following its founder’s blog for many years and find it inspiring. The switch will make it easier for me to publish my newsletter, which, I hope, will improve its frequency.

Live chat, the old-school way

Speaking of switching, we’ve switched to our own IRC server as the platform for our live chats. We’re still bridging messages to and from Discord, but our community conversations do not rely on any big tech services any longer. I'm going to publish a longer blog post on this topic soon.

LINSYS-1: New cohort in May

In May, I'll launch the next cohort of my course, “Basic Linux System Administration”. The current cohort is about halfway through, and everyone is having fun learning about the important, and also some lesser known, details of running Linux servers. You can find all the details on the course page.

I’ll keep this issue short. Next time, it’ll be the full format with my Mentor Monologue and reading recommendations again.

Until then, take care!

— Jochen, the Monospace Mentor
