CTO Coffee Club & Links

Hi,

You are receiving this newsletter because at some time in the last couple of years you have said you would be interested in getting an occasional newsletter from me.

And now, I have finally got around to setting it up.

Today's newsletter introduces a new coffee club and some links for you.

☕ CTO Coffee Club: Switching roles edition

Deciding whether to switch roles, and then finding the right role can be a lonely business.

This online session is a chance to bring along a challenge about switching roles (and a coffee or tea) and meet a small group of your peers to get some support and new perspectives.

This will be on Zoom at 2pm (UK time) on Fri 13th February.

→ Register here — places are limited.

🔗 Interesting links

Some of the things that I have read and watched recently include:

  • The engineer to executive translation layer: Anna Shipman outlines how to be the translation layer and why you need to do this as in order to be an influential and successful engineering leader.
  • Solving the puzzle of staff+ time management: Blanca Garcia Gil looks at how the expectations of your role imply changes in how you manage your time, strategies to avoid feeling like you are being stretched in multiple directions, understanding how you work best, and identifying which strategies apply to you. She offers great advice for anyone in a leadership role.
  • The 3 tenets of a usable vision Meg Adams provides simple, practical guidance.

Take care,

J.
