April is National Poetry Month and I Have Far Too Much Free Energy, So I Am Doing a 30/30

So when writing last week’s newsletter/blog post, I think I ended up convincing myself to do a 30/30. Or maybe, it was even before that. Back in October when I started musing on this urge to make a zine a day every day for a month. That exact genesis doesn’t really matter, but it is now happening. Largely because I’m trying to wring as much joy and whimsy out of this world, and part of that involves making things for the sake of making things. Writing for the love of the goddamn game. Resistance in the only way I actually know.
I don’t know how not to do something. In 2024, it was TTRPGs. In 2025, it was zines. And now, we’re gonna back to poems, which does imply that in 2027, I’m going to end up doing a NaNoWriMo without actually calling it a NaNoWriMo, but we’ll deal with that later.
But since I am planning on spending a lot of my time and effort into poems, it does seem only fitting to change my approach on how I use this particular space for the duration. So here’s what I’ve come up with.
1) All of my poems are going to be available in a google doc. You can actually look at that right now. It’s currently blank. But it does exist which means I am committing to this attrition.
2) Instead of my usual segments, I am going to select my favorite poem of that particular week and post a video of me reading that poem in lieu of a post.
3) I could have treated this like I did paraluman back in the day, but this seems more fun.
4) I thought about soliciting prompts, and maybe I will at some point, but I think this April is about claiming my own creative energy and setting my own terms for all these things to come.
So yeah. Follow me live or come see what I found to be fun next week.
