Winter Won't Slow Us Down
OUR BRAINS HAVEN’T TURNED INTO SUGAR PLUM LATKES JUST YET.
But it is only a matter of time.
You are receiving this newsletter because you have attended one of our shows in the past, or have asked to get them. If you’re not into it, that’s cool. No presh. Head to the bottom to punch out.
Before we sign off for the Holidays and our beloved “No-Plan-uary”, here’s our recap and look-ahead!
Apparently… we’re influencers!?
We were thrilled to be included in this year's inaugural Blooloop Immersive Influencers list. Thanks to Blooloop, the judges and nominators, and to all our fellow immersive influencers, many of whom have been colleagues for years, it is an honor to be listed alongside you!
Of course we also must thank our work's biggest influencers -- our collaborators, our cast and crews, and the guests that have experienced our work-- it's never complete without all your playfulness and curiosity. We're very excited to keep making work that intrigues and delights audiences in new ways.
So now that we are influencers-- does anyone want to explain Tiktok to us?

Checking Into the Library!
In other exciting news, Andy has been named a 2024 Creator in Residence for the LA Public Library. Through this grant, she will be designing a participatory, site-responsive piece for the beloved institution that holds more than six million volumes in their 73 branches, serving around 19 million residents in the Greater Los Angeles area. That’s a lot of books and a lot of humans with whom to collaborate. It is going to be a wild ride through story and community. Learn more about the program here: https://www.lapl.org/creators

Denver! Denver! Denver!
We had an absolute blast bringing 40 Watts from Nowhere to the 46th annual Denver Film Festival! A mile high heap of gratitude to the festival producers and staff, and to our DJs-- who put the attitude in altitude and turned the basement of a bookstore into a rock'n’roll pirate radio party.

ALSO: Denver DJs. Your photos are developed and online! Let us know if you lost the link and we’ll get it over to you.
After packing KBLT back into our cargo van, it was off to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts for the first ever Immersive Immersive conference, a convening of performing arts organizations and immersive producers, creators, and industry professionals. We talked about the work we do, got a chance to hear about the mind boggling array of immersive work around the globe, and caroused with lots of fancy-pants folks hoping to invest in the future of this field.

...and yes we did get to go to Casa Bonita: The Greatest Restaurant in the World.
It was… Insanely Mysterious.

COMING UP!
This January we’ll be leading a deep-dive workshop at Worlds in Play! Worlds in Play is a five-day gathering of play practitioners— game and theatre artists— exploring new forms of agency in storytelling and experience.

Join us at the ASU Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center in Mesa, Arizona and step into the artist’s studio as they experiment with adventurous participatory projects at various stages of development including immersive theatre, XR, Alternate Reality Games, Table Top Role Playing Games, social practice, food experiences, collaborations with AI, parties, and LARPs 🎶🎉

RECOMMENDATIONS
The new year is right around the monthly corner and you may soon be having discussions about how much you don't like new year's resolutions.
Jeff loves the turn over of the calendar and would love to share a unique alternative:
Over ten years ago I found this post about a different approach to the concept of New Year's resolutions and now I do it every single year. Sit down with a hot beverage and take an hour to design your year.
I'll add that it's not about setting a goal to be accomplished, but reviewing what's important to your focus and attention, thinking about how your life is functioning and making adjustments for the coming year.
Meanwhile, Andy hasn't stopped listening to The Oldhead 2-Hour Radio Hour whenever it blesses the wifi-waves via Blast Radio.
If you're missing KBLT and craving some bizarre and funky pirate radio vibes, tune in to hear a very old man (or is it a rad theatre artist wearing a horrifying mask?) broadcasting from his cabin in the woods, playing vinyl deep cuts and eating pickle sandwiches with fantastic guests. "All killer, no filler, Soul, Funk, Hip-Hop, Horror Soundtracks, Library music, you name it, I bump it."
New episodes drop weekly(ish) on Sundays and are available for 24 hours - then they vanish into our memories and strange dreams forever.
