40 WATTS FROM NOWHERE - World Premiere
You are receiving this newsletter since you’ve expressed interest in one of our shows in the past.
We are thrilled to announce that our next show 40 Watts from Nowhere will have it’s world premiere at La Jolla Playhouse’s Without Walls (WOW) Festival 2022 April 21–24 at ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station in San Diego, CA.
40 Watts from Nowhere chronicles the true story of Sue Carpenter, restless magazine editor turned radio pirate. In 1995, Sue poured every penny she had into creating an illegal radio station, KBLT, in her closet, which transformed her apartment into the clandestine heartbeat of the Silver Lake music scene. Over three years, she built an enduring underground community welcoming misfit music lovers into her home and onto the air almost 24 hours a day. Part memoir and part playable theatre, this experiential live documentary puts audiences into Sue’s DJ booth as they run the station, play music, share their voices, and attempt to avoid legal and financial ruin at the hands of the FCC.
Recommended ages 12+ for some light cursing and positive depictions of a victimless crime.

Want to playtest?
Before our work hits the streets, we’re always looking to run our shows with real live playful human people. Are you a real live playful human person that would be interested in playing and testing and offering feedback to help us improve our show-things? While much of our playtesting occurs here in Los Angeles, please don't let that dissuade you if you are interested but not in LA– there are virtual playtest opportunities as well.

A RECOMMENDATION FOR SOME INSPIRATION
We love the Museum of Home Video.
We could try to describe it, but they do a much better job: "The Museum of Home Video is 90 minutes of found footage for stoners, seekers, archivists and drinkers. Every Tuesday at 7:30p PST, we gather on Twitch.tv to watch pirate television for the soul.
The Museum of Home Video’s channel is also home to a number of like-minded programs—all dedicated to the intersection of art, archivism and the pursuit of a good time. Be there!"
When we're looking to recharge our brains and need to drink in the wild and the weird, we tune in to the Museum of Home Video on Twitch. Hope to see you in the chat!
STAY TUNED!
