Minimalissimo Weekly Edit
Minimalissimo in Design
Hello. I hope you’ve had a good week. I’m delighted to share another digital product in collaboration with Studio Lenzing. You might have heard about the ability to customise app icons in iOS 14 on Apple’s iPhone. Many designers were on this in a flash, just to be first. We decided to design our own icon set, but we wanted to take our time and offer something a little more thoughtful, comprehensive, and accessible.
So we created an icon set named SLM 880 consisting of 88 of the most popular apps that lets you customise your home screen to give it a clean, calm, and beautiful aesthetic. We didn’t just do this for iOS though, we also made the same set available to Android users. In addition, we designed the icon sets in four different themes and included a few simple wallpapers to complete the minimal screen design.
I sincerely hope you enjoy them. Thanks for your support.

Our features over the past week include a look back to 1999 where the great Claudio Silvestrin designed the super minimal Girombelli Apartment in Milan. We also visit Yixing in China to celebrate the R Society, an independent floral expressionist with a minimalist and futuristic aesthetic. And in our featured mood, we highlight the industrial design of Teenage Engineering’s newest speaker. Have a read, take it slow, and enjoy your Sunday.

Features
Girombelli Apartment
This 300 metres-squared apartment in the centre of Milan, designed by Claudio Silvestrin, is characterised by a 14 metre-long satin-glass wall which separates the day and night zones. Through this glass wall there is an uninterrupted flow of both east and west sunlight.
R Society
As an independent floral expressionist, R Society by 0321 Studio is an architectural project that offers neutrality for a focus of the subjects inside, as the minimalist and futuristic aesthetic gives an opposition to the vibrancy of flora. It’s a vanguard vision to push the ordinary outlook toward newness.

Capela do Monte
Capela do Monte by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira gives a new meaning to reduction, where the architecture is simply its own body without the interference of inner building systems. The poetry of Capela do Monte lies in its autonomy. The building is a singular vessel that houses inhabitants for a very specific function that caters to the clients’ belief system.
