Minimalissimo Weekly Edit
Minimalissimo in Design
Hello. I hope you’ve had a good week. I had the great pleasure of meeting Braun’s Head of Design, Oliver Grabes, this week in a recorded interview we’ll be publishing on the site in the next week or two. Really enjoyed that conversation. We also completed our backpack design that we made in collaboration with ODA. I’m delighted to announce that it is now available in the shop. It’s a lightweight, highly functional, and comfortable backpack. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Our features over the past week include a celebration of high-quality and long-lasting furniture design with one of Pastoe’s classic chairs. We return to Japan where we find ourselves immersed in the minimalism of Satsumasendai House that presents itself as a private sanctuary. And in our featured mood, we introduce a stunning photo book by Norm Architects’ Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen. Have a read, take it slow, and enjoy your Sunday.

Braakman FM03 Lounge Chair
Pastoe’s FM03 lounge chair was designed in 1953 by Cees Braakman. At that time, Braakman was chief designer at Pastoe and one of the most influential figures in the Dutch Design movement. The FM03 is a great example of minimalist use of materials in interior design.
Satsumasendai House
As the days get shorter and we retreat even more inwards, we are undoubtedly looking to our dwellings for a sense of safety and peace. Enter Satsumasendai House in Japan designed by Matsuyama Architect & Associates, where the feeling of serenity is so strong it seems to exude right out of the screen.
