Minimalissimo Weekly Edit

Letter Nº25

Hello. I hope all is well with you. You know, there are tonnes of design sites out there, many of which compete to be the first to feature a project. And there's nothing inherently wrong with that, but one of the best aspects of minimalism in design is that showcasing certain design types from 5, 10, or 20 years ago can still be so incredibly appealing today. It's why a lot of our research isn't just focused on the new, it's also focused on the old. And there's something really enjoyable about that from a curation perspective.

Our features over the past week include some architectural gems. We visit Montevecchia in Italy to admire a remarkable renovation project by a25architetti, we visit Valencia to celebrate another exceptionally minimalist residence by Fran Silvestre, and we take a close look at John Pawson's minimal marble vessels for Salvatori. And in our featured mood we showcase the moon in a room. Have a read, take it slow, and enjoy your Sunday.

—Carl Barenbrug, Creative Director

Although these polars of opposition might pose a disadvantage to architectural makings, the designers use them to their advantage with a vision of futurist aesthetics.
