Minimalissimo Weekly Edit
Letter Nº22
Hello. I hope you’re doing well. We’re starting to see things normalise a little around the world, which is good to see. I hope it continues this way, but you never know. I’m excited about some upcoming interviews we’re working on. A great mix of people and design skills. Hopefully great insights will come too. We have pretty much finalised the initial setup for the membership concept. I’m going to email you separately next week about that though, as I’d like you to be the first to see it. It’s very simple and I think you’ll like it.
Our features over the past week include our most insightful interview to date, as we spoke to Danish furniture designer Hee Welling about his approach to design and what needs to be done better. We celebrate the beauty and impact of stairs in a striking Montreal home, we visit Poland to admire the muted palette and minimal design of Thisispaper Studio’s holiday apartments, and in our featured mood, we enjoy the simplicity and style of Japanese kitchens. Have a read, take it slow, and enjoy your Sunday.

Creator Interview
Hee Welling (Furniture Designer)
Spending time perusing Hee Welling’s incredible portfolio of modern furnishings is to understand the power of creative restraint. Every curve and every line seems intentional and controlled, resulting in objects that are at once useful yet elegant in stature. In this interview, we discuss Hee’s education, design aesthetic, his collaboration with Gudmundur Ludvik, his work with HAY, and the future of sustainable design.
Features
Maison du Parc
Refined, luxurious, cohesive, and grand are descriptors barely worthy of the masterful Maison du Parc. To view this Montreal residence is to take a theatrical journey through a design that effortlessly blurs the boundaries of art and architecture.
A-PLACE
Thisispaper Studio has created a remarkably well-designed, muted, and minimalist space available for rent to anyone who would like to discover the capital of Poland in an unconventional way. Named A-PLACE, the interior is designed in the spirit of Thisispaper and equipped with a wide range of hand-picked objects that exemplify good design.
