Minimalissimo Weekly Edit

What's Happening?

Hello. I hope you've had a good week. I've been focusing a lot on redesigning the Minimalissimo HQ. That is, my home office. It's almost complete, at least to the standard that I am comfortable with and motivated by. It's a new canvas from which to work and it feels timely given the extensive changes that are upcoming for Mimo. I'm just waiting on a couple of Vitra office chairs arriving in March (hello ergonomics) and I'm good to go (photos soon!). Speaking of those extensive changes, we recently began the design and build of our new online shop, which will be launching alongside the new principal site. We're not too far away now and I reckon we'll be good to go by the end of March (no promises though). There might even be a couple of surprises to mark the occasion. I want to press the fast forward button and just ship this stuff, but you know, we often expect things immediately, so practising some patience is healthy.

Check out some of our recent features and one from the archive below. You should also buy our beautiful new photo book, Selection: Architecture. Have a read, take it slow, and enjoy your Sunday.

Features

Standard Sofa

The modular Standard Sofa series is NEW TENDENCY’s first upholstered furniture system, available as an armchair or a two- or three-seat sofa. With its compact powder-coated aluminium frame, which appears to float elegantly above the floor, the Standard Sofa reinterprets an archetype.

Bo Growth Headquarters

With most work taking place digitally, and the increased flexibility desired from workspaces, there is all the more reason for offices to embrace minimalism. Bo Growth Headquarters is one such workplace, designed by DG Arquitecto Valencia.

Totem

The Totem (rr231) stereo system with removable speakers was created in 1971 by the Italian designer Mario Bellini for the Italian brand Brionvega. Its design encompasses the search for primary forms and when closed, it is a smooth, compact, and understated cube, and when you open its "wings" (the speakers), it transforms into a striking and dominant geometric structure and allows the user to start listening.
