MINIMALISSIMO EDITED
This monthly edition of the Minimalissimo Newsletter is supported by aprile, the hanging chair
Hello hello wonderful human beings. Manu here, writing this on a windy but sunny morning of December.
The holiday season is upon us—at least for those of us who live in parts of the world where such holidays are celebrated. A wonderful time of the year for some, a dreaded moment for others. As people who love minimalism, the whole gifting song and dance can be problematic. Should we set aside our minimalist hat and simply go with the flow and gift people what they want—or what they think they want? Or should we keep our metaphorical hats on and still try to pursue what we really value and only gift objects when absolutely necessary? Hard to say.
The older I get the more I’m convinced the best gifts are the ones that are tied to experiences. Objects come and go but experiences can change your life and make you a better person.
An enjoyable quiet dinner with an old friend, a relaxing breakfast with your partner. I think those carry a lot more value than a pointless gadget. And memories don’t end up collecting dust in a closet, which is always a plus.
How do you plan to tackle this holiday season, as someone who’s into minimalism? Do you have a strategy? Do you have a plan? And how do you deal with being on the receiving end? Let me know, it’s always interesting to hear from you all.
