MINIMALISSIMO EDITED

Black and white is salt and pepper of colors, for life tastes bland without them.

Recently Carl published a blog post exploring the concept of having a personal uniform.
It is not uncommon, for people who are into minimalism, to have a uniform. I used to have one, and was very similar to Carl's. For years I dressed the same, day after day, week after week, only changing to follow the passing of the seasons. Grey sweatpants and black sweatshirts during the cold months, black shorts and white t-shirts during the warm ones.
The colours of my life were black, white, and a few of those 50 available shades of gray.
As I’m scrolling through the endless Minimalissimo archive I can’t avoid noticing that minimalism is dominated by the same colour scheme.
I’m wondering why that’s the case. Is it because the rawness of the materials dictates the colour scheme? Or is it because, in the pursuit of purity, designers and architects all inevitably tend to gravitate towards the grayscale, and away from the colours?
What’s also interesting to me is that the only other colour that managed to carve a space for itself is the natural brown of wood, in all its various hues.
White, black, gray, brown. Light, darkness, rock, trees. The colours of minimalism are, unsurprisingly, very barebones. But they also feel very natural, in their own unique way.
What are the colours of your minimalism? Get in touch, I’d love to know.

I hope you're enjoying scrolling through the new stream section as well navigating the site using the new navigation. I'm currently populating the books section, if you have books worth including send me an email.
I'm also working on a new directory to help you discover architects, designers, photographers, and artists. Curation takes a ton of time so don't expect this new section to go live anytime soon.
